leviathanOne of the most feared creatures in Subnautica. The Reaper Leviathan is a massive, serpentine predator reaching up to 55 meters in length. It can grab the Seamoth or PRAWN Suit with its mandibles and deal devastating damage.
Lore
The Reaper is an apex predator of the shallower outer biomes, spending much of its time near the surface where it can ambush prey. Its mandibles are adapted for gripping large creatures — or submarines.

Survival Tips
- 1Reapers patrol fixed routes in the Dunes, Mountains, and Crash Zone — learn their patrol paths and time your crossings when they are at the far end.
- 2The Stasis Rifle is the most effective tool against a Reaper. One well-aimed shot freezes it for several seconds, giving you time to escape or scan it.
- 3Reapers cannot follow you into very tight terrain. Hugging canyon walls or diving into narrow gaps can break their pursuit.
- 4If grabbed in the Seamoth, do not panic and exit the vehicle — stay inside and boost away the moment the grip loosens, or the Reaper may immediately grab you again as a player.
- 5Thermal Plant and Cyclops sonar pings reveal nearby Reapers through fog — use them for situational awareness before entering their territory.
- 6Reapers are mostly found near the surface of the outer biomes (0–200m). Descending below ~300m often causes them to disengage.
